Elizabeth and Essex

So I recently found a nice stack of classic movie soundtracks reissued on the Membran International label.

No, I'd not heard of it either, but the booklets for these CDs list 60 in the series. The shop where I found mine (Levny Knihy in Prague) boasted 10 of the titles which I snapped up for 19Kc ($1.20) each.

First up, The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (Warner, 1939. Music by Erich Korngold).

The movie starred Bette Davis, Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Vincent Price.

This is great in a couple of ways. Great to be able to get this music generally, for any film lover, but also because this is a particularly fine score, by one of the best, and of interest to people interested in classical music during the first half of the 20th century, as well as film lovers.

It's great to be able to download it, but also great to know about the availability of these discs.

I hope you will post more of these finds, beyond this one and the She soundtrack

Follow up comment - there seems to be something wrong with the second archive - I only get a 2kb file of track 5

Thanks for your comment and for the head's up about the second E&E file. I'm correcting it now.

You're in luck that I was able to find 8 more discs in this series, one of which has two different movie soundtracks on it.
