In Vienna there's ten pretty women

So I spent a weekend in Vienna last month that included visits to the Vienna Secession building and the very cool KunstHausWien.

I thought that this post would include a bunch of songs in 3/4 time, like a fine Viennese waltz (Playground Twist, Breaking the Girl, King Volcano), but decided instead on:

Leonard Cohen: "Take This Waltz". Originally on the 1988 release I'm Your Man, the live version here is from a '92 concert in Switzerland.

Ultravox: "Vienna". The title track of their 1980 LP, this version comes from the concert film Monument. Beautiful in an early 80s sorta way.

Vic Reeves: "Vienna". This version of the Ultravox track is taken from the album Ruby Trax: NME's Roaring 40, a 3-CD compilation of very odd covers that New Music Express released in '92 to celebrate its 40th anniversary. It's got some serious gems - Curve's cover of I Feel Love and Suede's Brass In Pocket come to mind. This track, however is just kinda weird.

I thought about including Billy Joel's "Vienna" from '78's The Stranger, but thought better of it.

All three of the ones I chose are zipped up here. (RS)
Buy I'm Your Man.
Buy Vienna or Monument.
Someone on eBay wants USD 150 for Ruby Trax. Otherwise, it's way outta print.
